Meet the Maker!

Hi friends! I'm Teresa - the artist behind Serendipitous Clay :)

I started Serendipitous Clay as a passion project in April of 2020; at the time, I was finishing up my senior year of college, steps away from my five younger siblings also trying to complete their virtual schooling. During the months leading up to launching my brand, I felt very lost, very frustrated, and very slighted by the job market I was being pushed out into. I was interning at a company I didn't really care for, who equally didn't care for me and my needs/future. I lost count of the number of jobs I applied for to companies that were "hiring." Things were fucking grim. I dont need to remind anyone of that though. Anyways, my internship ended in June and thus began this insane artist journey.

While in a a perfect world, I'd love to do this fulltime, I have acquired quite the list of side hustles to uh ya know, pay my rent :-) So I'm also a freelance writer for three local publications, barista/social media manager/front of house manager at a new cafe and I help care for my 1.5 year old neice a couple times a week. It can get overwhelming more often than not, but I certainly wouldn't trade this life for a fluorescent lit 9-5 boring ass, soul crushing desk job!! I have been doing some form of art nearly my entire life & have always wanted to share my work with others. I've worked with so many mediums in the past (acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, looming, beading, paper, digital art, etc. etc.) so to combine my love for painting and art with my love for jewelry really hit the sweet spot for my creative capabilities!

Sustainability and being an environmentally-conscious business owner are high at the top of my list of priorities. Throughout my creative process, I try to create as little waste as possible; you, the recipient of my art, are also considered in my practices. All of my packaging is 100% eco-friendly, using recycled tissue paper, reusable boxes, recyclable and repulpable tape, and a muslin bag you can reuse as well! I believe small changes can lead to large-scaled, long term effects. We only have one planet inhabitable like ours and its our responsibility (& the governments!!!) to take care of it.

I'm so excited for you to have a little piece of my art, & one that you can wear!

xx Teresa
